Looking for a straight answer on filling wooden holes to redrill?

Ok say you have a piece of wood about 1 inch thick, and you drill holes all over it. And knock it in with a flat screwdriver and a philips screwdriver. What would you use to fill up the damage to re drill. I am not looking for a dowel rod or putty. Maybe spackle or some sort of filler that is strong enough to re drill after it drys.
