Sharp pain in my lower right side-6 months pregnant?

I could really use some advice, I put a call into my doctor's office and am waiting for a call back but I thought I would also try here. I thought I had what might be some round ligament pain on my lower right side earlier last week but instead of subsiding it has only gotten worse. I thought round ligament pain would be sharp but then ease and this is pain constantly. I can't get comfortable even when lying down and curling up with pillows for support. My belly really isn't that big yet and I'm not sure what could be causing the pain. My DH wondered outloud if it was appendicitis and now I am a little more concerned. Have any of you dealt with this type of pain? It gets worse when I cough or sneeze but it is there all the time. Thank you
