Shouldn't science and Christianity/Catholicism be at odds?

Biblical science is outdated science. The Bible is a book for moral guidance, not a source of knowledge. I'm Catholic myself and I disagree about taking the Bible's words literally; I do believe in God, but I look at science as God's way of doing things - kind of like the Operating System to the world we live in.
