Booking plane tickets with delayed payment?

The longest a travel agent can hold an airline ticket for purchase in the US is until midnight the following day for domestic travel and 3 days for international. There are some exceptions to this rule as some airlines do not allow for a hold without purchase at all. If the air travel is in conjunction with a cruise or large group travel it can sometimes be longer however that is entirely up to the airline as well.
