How many quarters are there in a basketball game?

Every sports different proffesional basketball has 4 quarters while college only has 2 and i'm pretty sure football has 4 quarters too. But soccer has 2 halves hockey has 3 periods baseball has 9 innings and that is just how those sports were made.
