My vet said my chinchilla has some kind of paralysis?

My chinchilla was under the chair & I moved it; in between that time he got hurt..bad. I took him to the vet bc his ear was droopy, his eye got watery & gooey & his whisker started drooping. She told me he has "paralysis" what exactly does that mean? she also said he wasn't tearing so he was on pain medicine & artificial tearing. I did the meds for 5 days like she said & took him back the other day his eye is now watery with red around it & she put dye in it to make sure there were no ulsers, none. Now he's on antibiotics & eye infection medicine. What now? will his eye ever heal? if he wasn't tearing does that mean it's permanent? I'm not sure what to think now. He's on pain medicine to help him eat & eye medicine & eye drops to help his eye
