Cant connect to wireless network?

My daughter came home from college and for some reason her laptop wont let her connect to my network or to any other wireless network even unsecured. I checked her wireless network adapter and its the same as mine and i am online. What do I need to configure to get her online.I even tried an update which messed me up cause it deleted the old network I had to down load a new one. Also i cant use eternet cord to far.
